Byron Bay is the most easterly town in Australia. Standing at the lighthouse looking north lets you as far as Brunswick heads - even the night lights of Tweed and the Gold Coast can be seen on a clear night. Looking south past Tallow Beach towards Lennox and Ballina sees a breathtaking view often spotted with hang gliders and hot air balloons.

There is a variety of styles and food to suit all tastes and budgets. Many food outlets in Byron Bay offer health food and use organic produce; from modern Asian to middle eastern, Krisna-conscious to gourmet fish and chips, award winning seafood to authentic pastas. As Byron Bay is still a country town, be sure to be seated by 8.30pm - 9.00pm as many restaurants close after 9.00pm. You will also need to book to ensure a seat, especially in the busy periods such as Christmas, Easter and festival time.
Byron Bay also plays host to the Taste of Byron Food Festival. Each year Byron Bay's main beachfront buzzes with over 60 different restaurant stalls showcasing some 40 different styles of cuisine, as well as an array of stalls representing produce and unique food products from the region.
